Wash your hands properly with a mild soap or hand wash and pat it dry. Remove any nail polish with nail polish remover.

So, here are the steps:

Step 1: Clip Your Nails

Clip your nails if necessary. Make sure that all the rough and pointed edges are not present. The nails should be clipped in a proper way. You can clip according to the length you wish to keep for your nails.

Step 2: File and Buffer

After clipping your nails, start filing them. Make sure all the rough edges are gone and whatever shape you wish to keep for your nails can be done with the filer. After filing, use a nail buffer to give the extra shine to the nails. Now use a nail pusher to push the nail skin outwards.

You may check out a battery-operated nail filer that is easy to use and offers safe operation.

Step 3 : Scrub Your Hands

Exfoliation is very important to remove all the dead skin from the top. It would make the hands appear clean and smooth. Use a mild scrub or you can also make a scrub at home with just sugar and lemon juice. Rub on your hands for 5 minutes and wash off with water.

Step 4: Apply Nail Polish

Now you can apply your base coat first using a base coat nail polish. This would make sure that the nail is protected and the nail color is settled well on top. After applying the base coat, choose a nail color according to your preference and apply evenly on all the nails. To protect the nail color from smudging, use a top coat to protect your nail color. This would seal the color inside, making your nail color last longer.

Step 5: Moisturize

After the nail color has been applied, the last step is to moisturize your hands. Use a very good moisturizer according to your skin type and apply generously. This would make sure that the hands don’t look dry and have a smooth finish.

The above mentioned steps are basic steps for getting a manicure done at home. This would help all those busy ladies who are unable to take out time for themselves. It is not always necessary to go to a salon and get such treatments done. This can easily be done at home with no supervision. Manicures should be done regularly which means at least once every two weeks. This would keep your hands in good shape and would also boost your confidence level.
